Templates track prices; they collapse when the accounting gets real. tradeGIST runs Google Apps Script logic a formula cannot express: lot-level FIFO/LIFO cost basis across accounts, wash sale detection, FX impact separated from asset performance, and daily snapshots that formulas would overwrite.

Stocks and ETFs update through native GOOGLEFINANCE formulas (quotes can lag by up to 20 minutes). Crypto prices come from CoinMarketCap, which has a free tier; live options quotes come from Massive.com, which requires a paid plan. Your API keys stay in your spreadsheet. No manual price entry.
