The tradeGIST Add-on turns a Google Sheets™ spreadsheet into a complete tracker for your stock, crypto, and options investments. It matches your trades, calculates profits and losses (P&L) and taxes, fetches live prices, and builds a dashboard — all inside a single spreadsheet.

Spreadsheet Template​

The add-on works with the official tradeGIST template — a spreadsheet that comes pre-structured with everything the add-on needs, so using it is mandatory. Making your copy needs no license key: your first 14 days are a full Pro trial, after which you continue with a paid license or on the capped free tier — see the Getting Started guide. The copy lives in your own Google Drive™ and is yours to customize.

Security & Privacy

Your data never leaves your spreadsheet. tradeGIST is built with a "Privacy-First" architecture. All your transaction history, portfolio values, and API keys are stored locally and exclusively within your own Google Sheets™ file.

  • No Central Database: We do not own or manage a database that stores your financial information.
  • Direct API Calls: When the add-on fetches live prices, it communicates directly from your sheet to the market data provider.
  • Google-Grade Security: Your data is protected by the same industry-leading security and encryption that powers your Google account.

User Input Sheets​

Only two sheets require your direct input:

  • Configuration Sheet: where you define your assets, accounts, categories, tax rates, and other per-asset and per-account data.
  • Transactions Sheet: where you log your buys, sells, and other transactions. The add-on processes these entries to generate trades, P&L, and reports.

Global preferences (base currency, matching method, API keys, and more) are managed separately in the ⚙️ Settings dialog — see the Configuration guide.

All other sheets in the spreadsheet (e.g., Trades, Dashboard, Snapshots) are automatically generated and updated by the add-on based on your inputs in the Configuration and Transactions sheets.

Do not edit these generated sheets manually, as the add-on will overwrite them during processing.
